THE HUNKY DORY SOCIAL CLUB

I walked past this place the other day .... I was actually looking for people for my "What Made You Happy Today" blog ....

... then I saw these guys out the front and thought "there's a few photo opportunities" (which there certainly was) ....

When I looked inside I saw this amazing restaurant and bar (still late afternoon so excuse the chairs on tables) ..... but what a great space, the above pic is Bruno's Italian Restaurant complete with cowhide covered ceiling, great lighting fixtures, vintage biblical framed paintings and the odd cross .... plus a woodfired  pizza oven (which pizza chef Lorenzo assures me are very good !!!)

Then you walk up the stairs to the  Hunky Dory Social Club .... great name huh ... (the owners Rictchie and "Cinneis" let me go up and have an explore) kind of fun seeing an empty bar before the night begins ....

the first thing I noticed were the pressed metal ceilings .....

... the bar was amazing, concrete floors, old chesterfield couches, chandeliers from Morocco and peacocks (loved the peacocks), all very New York and intimate .....

.... even the bathrooms were amazing and there is also a rooftop balcony which they plan to make a live music venue, Saturday flea market and an open air cinema ....
sounds pretty social to me !!!

I think that's the greatest name for a bar that I've ever heard!

Yes, I at first thought it was called The Hunky Dory Bar because of the hunks at the table. ;)

What a stunning place and I love the dark tin room. in fact I thought I was back in London. (Love how they do dark bathrooms don't you?) Just shows how gorgeous black and charcoal can be inside. Cheers, Jody
