RED BALL PROJECT

I remember first seeing (and loving) "The Red Ball Project" in Sydney , then I was reminded of it again the other day after seeing it here. The brainchild of Chicago born artist Kurt Perschke , the huge inflatable red ball is placed in random spaces in different cities, spaces that are often taken for granted. The red ball has traveled the world popping up in the most unusual of places, peoples reactions are always varied, some are shocked, some want to touch or jump on it (which is encouraged), some so self absorbed they don't really even notice it. Personally it just made me smile and feel kind of happy, there is something a bit silly and fun about a big red ball being lodged somewhere very random and unexpected .

Artist and creator of the project Kurt Perschke.

The Red Ball popping up in a few unexpected  locations ....

...... it even found its way to The Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Some kids enjoying the ball .....

.... and a few surprised looks.

A break between inflation and installation .... quite the process in itself.
The Red Ball is currently in Abu Dhabi, which could prove very interesting .... you can follow its adventures here.

This is my favorite photograph of the ball, I love this little kid in his superman outfit looking very super indeed ..... too cute !!!

I'm thinking of getting a red ball and having my own little Red Ball Project, placing it in random spots around my house, I think it could be fun ..... I think I will put one on my shopping list !!!!!

This is an amazing project!
I would die to meet the brain behind it...
It combines all the things I admire - playful and imaginative mind, simple, great design, magic and lots of fun!
The last photo is definitely the best as it captures it all.
Love it!
