I love the windows in #2 and the details in #5. I do love empty spaces. Years ago, we rented a basement as a studio space. There was a door that led to an empty apartment (I wasn't a legal rental and had been empty for quite some time). It wasn't a big loft space like these, but I loved sneaking in and spending time there thinking of what it had once been like. Eventually the owners began to use it as storage and it wasn't the same after that.

Sounds like a loft would be the perfect place for you. It's so hard to find places like this in NYC anymore. I love wide open spaces like these where you can have one room flow into the next.
