I have always loved the work of Sydney artist
Anna-Wili Highfield , her beautiful copper pipe horse sculptures were the first thing to catch my eye . Then I came across her paper sculptures, which are just divine. So divine in fact that I have put in an order for my birthday. The only problem was choosing which one. I really have a soft spot for the magpie ......... but they are all so special that I don't think I'll be able to stop at one.
Anna-Wili makes her hand sewn sculptures from archival cotton paper, using ink and watercolours to make each sculpture unique.
Her bird sculptures will be featured in a show at the Anthropolgie Gallery in
The Rockerfellor Centre NY put together by Sibella Court to coincide with the launch of Sibella's beautiful book "
Etcetera Etc"at the end of March. . Then the lovely Anna-Wili will be having her own show at the same gallery starting on July 21st. She will be making sculptures of Australian coastal birds especially for the NY show. How exciting is that!!!! Take a look at Anna-Wili's
website to see a further selection of her sculptures, you won't be disappointed.
